Apart from hunting, the area around Valmedianillo is rich in culture and history. The monastery of Santa Maria is in nearby Guadalupe. Nearby towns of Oropesa, Caceres and Trujillo and many others offer remarkable architecture and artisan crafts such as Spanish tiles, pottery and leather goods.

Valmedianillo borders the Geoparque Villuercas - Ibores - Jara, a mountainous UNESCO geological site that spans over 2,500 square kilometers, with well-kept walking paths, rich biodiversity, and exceptional vistas.

Extremadura's capital, Caceres, has recently been regarded as the gastronomy capital of Spain. The "slow food" movement is key in this region, which is also well known for its local honey, goat's cheeses, cherries, chestnuts and pastries.
